Leading Financiers, Studio Executives & Media Experts to Discuss the State of Film Finance Amidst the Credit Crisis

(PRWEB) January 5, 2010 -- Networking Seminars Inc. announced today the lineup for their Third Annual Film Finance Summit to be held in Los Angeles from February 8 – 10, 2010. With the decline of Wall Street investors and the banking credit crisis, there is a need to find new sources of financing and innovative structures to enable financing for film, television and online content. Now in its third year, Networking Seminars’ Film Finance Summit has become the place where the major power players in the film industry converge to discuss the current state of film finance and how to raise capital under the present economic conditions.

The Film Finance Summit (http://www.filmfinancesummit.com)provides an opportunity for leading financiers, studio executives, and branding and media experts to discuss the latest trends in how to secure financing for film and television content, to explain funding opportunities available through product integration, and to explore ground-breaking methods for branding entertainment and distributing content on multiple platforms.

“Financing content in the new transmedia landscape has been somewhat challenging,” says Phil Alberstat of Fuel Industries, “The Film Finance Summit is an opportunity to network with the best in the entertainment industry and to find new strategies and sources for financing, marketing and distributing content.“

The Summit includes two workshops and one full day devoted to financing solutions and networking events. The first workshop, “Financing a Film,” will be led by experienced entertainment attorney, David Steinberg of Heenan Blaikie and will address fundamental finance structures and customary legal agreements. The panel will feature Nicholas Tabarrok, a prolific film and television producer and owner of Darius Films (http://www.dariusfilms.com). Tabarrok raised the necessary financing for his first low-budget indie film, Motel, within six months.

On February 10th, the Summit will focus on "Taxation of the Film & TV Industries." This morning workshop will be led by renowned entertainment attorney, Schuyler M. Moore of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. Moore will provide an overview of federal tax issues impacting the film and television industry. These tax issues along with tax rebates and credits available in various states are important for filmmakers to understand as they can eliminate some of the risks involved in financing a film.
